Catherine C. “Katie” Donahue

Catherine C. “Katie” Donahue,  age 90,  of Clinton, Iowa,  passed away June 29, 2016.

Katie started working at Northwestern Bell in 1943 as a part-time operator, retiring in 1980 with 38 years of service. She was a lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers and the CWA telephone union.

Tom Burney retires July 8, 2016

All 4_1x1.5Tom started in St Peter, Minnesota, as a Lineman with Northwestern Bell.  He worked there as a Splicer, Combination Technician, and Equipment Technician,  He moved to Willmar MN in 1970 as a Cable Maintenance Supervisor, then on to other supervisory positions in Litchfield, Olivia and St Cloud.  In 1984 he transferred to the Twin Cities area with US West and worked numerous positions within the Plant department as the company evolved into Qwest Communications.  For the last 12 years Tom has worked as an Engineer-II with CenturyLink in Anoka, Minnesota, and will end his career with over 46 years of service.

Melvin F. Stevens

Melvin F. Stevens, age 85, of Denison, and previously of Carroll, Iowa,  passed away June 26, 2016.

Mel began his career as a Lineman with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Lancaster, California.  He transferred to Carroll, Iowa, in 1968 where he completed his 30 year career with the company.
