Hazel Verlyn (Freeman) Hamilton, age 92, of Mitchel and previously of Howard and Sioux Falls, South Dakota, passed away April 13, 2018.
In 1957, Hazel become employed by Bell Telephone Company in Howard, then transferred to Sioux Falls and retired in 1983. She returned to the homestead in 1985 where she lived until she had a farm auction and moved to Mitchell in 2011.

Jerome Edward “Jerry” Miller, age 62, of Duluth, Minnesota, passed away April 26, 2018.
Jerry retired from Qwest Communications in 2009 after 30+ years of service.

Leland (Lee) Evjen, age 83, of Williston, North Dakota, passed away April 4, 2017.
Leland graduated Salutatorian from Alexander High School and went to work for Northwestern Bell Telephone shortly after graduation. He enlisted in the Army and served as a satellite tracking technician at Cape Canaveral, Florida. Upon leaving the military, Leland returned to North Dakota and Northwestern Bell in Grand Forks where he met and married Beverly Green at the United Lutheran Church. Leland was recalled back to active service until he was Honorably Discharged in 1962. Leland and Beverly moved to Williston North Dakota, where he returned to work for Northwestern Bell where he continued to work for the next 37 years. After retirement, Leland started Lee’s Telephone Service and continued working until the fall of 2016.

Lucille Abbie Grace Sheldon, age 96, of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, passed away April 21, 2018.
Lucille worked as a switchboard operator at the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Monticello. The day their second child was born, Perrie received his notice for call to service in the Army so she and the two children moved in with her parents. The phone company was located just behind their house and she was lucky to be hired on, so she could earn extra money to help pay rent to her folks. She worked there until 1946.

William Robert “Bill” Anderson, 82, of Jesup (Littleton), Iowa, passed away April 23, 2018.
Bill served in the US Army from 1958 until his honorable discharge in 1960. He worked in the storeroom for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. up until 1990 when he retired.

Jeannette Rear, age 90, of Crystal and formerly of Montevideo, Minnesota, passed away April 17,2018.
Jeannette worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. starting in Anoka, and later transferring to Montevideo when her family moved back. She felt fortunate to be able to work at several jobs in the company, and later when the office in Montevideo closed, she transferred to the Plymouth office and worked in the Message Investigation Center. Jeannette retired in 1983.

Peter “Pete” Mlinar, age 83, of Andover, Minnesota, passed away April 18, 2018.
Pete was a proud employee of Ma Bell for 38 years, retiring in 1994.
