Neal Kelley, age 77, of Grand Island, Nebraska, passed away July 4, 2018.
Neal was employed as a network technician for what was originally the Northwestern Bell telephone company for 37 years; often being one of “those guys” climbing poles in the Nebraska winters to fix phone lines. Neal was proud of serving as Union President of the Communication Workers of America, Local 7401. As Union President and part of the collective bargaining team, Neal was proud to represent his fellow union members and spoke of it often.

Donelle E. Leary, age 96, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away July 13, 2018.

Eleanore (Ellie) Katherine Cox, age 91, of Rochester, Minnesota, passed away July 5, 2018.
Ellie started with Northwestern Bell in 1944 as a phone operator. She married James Cox (https://twistedpairnews.wordpress.com/2016/05/06/james-jim-eugene-cox/) of St. Charles, MN on May 20, 1948. Ellie left NWB to raise their children while Jim continued his career with the company. They lived and worked in in several towns throughout southern Minnesota until returning to Rochester in 1956. Ellie resumed her career with Northwestern Bell in 1967 and retired in 1988 from AT&T.

Richard Dean “Dick” Henshaw, age 92, of Park Rapids, Minnesota and formerly of Oelwein, Iowa, passed away July 5, 2018.
Dick enjoyed a career with the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company that spanned over 36 years. He started as a Lineman in Storm Lake, Iowa. He moved with his young wife to Oelwein, Iowa where he worked as an installer and he finished his years with what is now Century Link working out of the Central Office as a Crossbar Man until his retirement in November of 1983. Dick was very involved with his career and also did much volunteer work in his community. He was a life member of The Communications Workers of America and a member of the Telephone Pioneers.

Barbara J. Loneman, age 68, of Altoona, Iowa, passed away July 9, 2018.
Barb worked at Qwest (now Century Link) for over 40 years.

Helen Louise Kruse, age 92, of Fargo, North Dakota, passed away July 1, 2018.
Helen began working at Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. in 1945 and held various positions in Accounting and Executive Departments, retiring in August 1982 with over 30 years of service. Helen was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

Leon Albert Ekstrom, age 80, of North Branch, Minnesota, passed away July 3, 2018.
After graduation Leon went to work for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company on a unlocated line crew, climbing poles and running telephone lines throughout Minnesota, he was called out to many storm jobs in Duluth, Iowa, and many communities to restore telephone service for their customers.
