Karen White

Karen Ann White, 86, of Mason City, Iowa, passed away May 31, 2023.

Karen began working part-time for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company while she attended St. Joseph High School. Following her graduation, she began working for them full time. She quickly made her way to the position of supervisor and those that worked with her had a great deal of love and respect for her. She later retired from the company in 1986 after 32 years of service.

Leslye Marie Gray

Leslye Marie Gray, age 65 of Des Moines, Iowa, previously of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away Monday, March 6, 2023. (Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Greenwood Cemetery in York, NE.)

Leslye began working for Northwestern Bell in 1978 in North Platte, NE. and retired in Des Moines, IA for Century Link in 2018.  She was very proud of her employment for what she referred to as Ma Bell and was a proud member of the Communications Workers of America (CWA) Local 7102 where she served as a Union Steward for many years.

Marcene Lenz, 66, of Larkspur, Colorado, passed away November 25, 2022.

Marcene worked for Mountain Bell as an operator and quickly became a Chronics Telephony Technician for Qwest.

Richard “Rick” Card

Richard “Rick” Card, 75, of West Des Moines, Iowa, passed away May 27, 2023.

Rick started at Ma Bell as a lineman when there was still open wire in use and did his share of ice storms for 2 years. He then moved to cable splicer and a switchman on step by step equipment. He retired in 2006 after 40 years of service.

Mozelle Mickey

Mozelle Mickey, age 92, of Lamar, Colorado, passed away May 27,2023.

Mozelle worked for Mountain Bell Telephone from 1952 until 1962, making many lifelong friendships with the other Mountain Bell girls.

Fredrick Sandoval

Fredrick Sandoval, age 48, of Lakewood, Colorado, passed away May 23, 2023.

Fred started working at Qwest Wireless in 1998. He loved the call center life and was sent to Guanajuato, Mexico to train the employees there multiple times. Each time the company was acquired or merged, Fred made more friends. He eventually served as a Director at CenturyLink/Level III alongside his most trusted colleagues.

Clarence Terry

Clarence Terry, 93, of Sheridan, Wyoming, passed away May, 2023.

At 17 Clarence started as a stockman with Bell Telephone’s Mountain States Tel. & Tel.. He then worked for Ma Bell/AT&T continuously for the next 35 years, starting as a lineman and ending up as a manager.
